Grow Old With You

I once dwelled in a world of stark contrast,
Decisions, black or white, no shades to amass.
I meandered through life, a wanderer, no set course,
Unaware that one day, our paths would converge, of course.

From that moment, I made a solemn vow,
Come what may, I’d give you my all somehow.
I might be here, and you might be there,
Yet nothing can diminish this love, so rare.

I long to spend each moment by your side,
To laugh and to cry, in life’s turbulent ride.
I yearn to be your anchor, to offer hope and cheer,
In this unending cycle we navigate, year after year.

Truth may wound me, I know that’s true,
Your love might not mirror the feelings I construe.
Still, when life takes a dark and daunting face,
I yearn to stand by you, singing my grace.

Even if destiny scripts me just as a friend,
I won’t force my heart’s beat to bow and bend.
I’ll love you despite the unrequited plea,
I’ll be there, my feelings, set free.

I aspire to grow old with you, it’s my dream,
To be with you until life’s final gleam.
I aim to stand beside you, as the years unfold,
A tale of love, a story untold.
